Project I need a complete arrangement of "Someone to You" by BANNERS for a Swiss carnival brass band ("Guggenmusik"). Reference recording: [login to view URL] Guggenmusik is a Swiss/South-German carnival street-brass style: loud, driving, played outdoors from memory while marching. Straight groove, strong downbeats, off-beats in the inner voices, trombone glissandi, clear tutti stops. The six parts: Trumpet 1 (Bb) · Trumpet 2 (Bb) · Trombone 1 · Trombone 2 · Tenor horn (Bb) · Sousaphone (Bb) My two requirements Trumpets and trombones should trade the melody back and forth. Both sections should have their moments leading — don't give the melody to the trumpets for the whole piece. How you divide it is up to you. The tenor horns get a solo passage. A short exposed section where they carry the music largely on their own. Place it wherever it works best musically — I'd expect it somewhere in the second half, with a big full-band finish afterwards. Everything else is your call. I'd rather hear your musical ideas than have you follow a plan of mine. Practical constraints (amateur band) Recognisable hook within the first 8 bars — consider starting with the chorus rather than the original intro. Total length 2:30–3:00. Shorten or repeat sections of the original as needed. Trumpet 1: not above written G5/A5. Trumpet 2 stays below. Sousaphone: mainly roots and fifths, half and quarter notes. Between written C4 and C5, never above written G5. No long rests other than around the tenor horn passage. The band plays from memory while marching, so anyone who stops playing for a while needs an audible cue to come back in — a percussion figure or bass pickup. Key Please write in Bb major (concert pitch). This puts the sousaphone root on Bb1 (written C4), which is comfortable and projects well outdoors. If you strongly recommend a different key, say so in your bid with a reason. Notation Trumpet 1 & 2: Bb, treble clef Trombone 1 & 2: both versions required — Bb treble clef (transposed, read like a trumpet) and C bass clef (concert pitch). Same music, separate PDFs. Tenor horn: Bb, treble clef Sousaphone: Bb, treble clef (sounding two octaves and a major second below written pitch). Additionally as C bass clef. Score: rehearsal marks and a one-line percussion cue staff throughout.

Hello, I’d love to take on “Someone to You” by BANNERS and turn it into a Guggenmusik arrangement that really comes alive when the whole band is marching and playing outdoors. I’m a professional composer/arranger, and I’ll approach this as a performance piece rather than simply transferring the original song into six parts. I’ll make the trumpets and trombones trade the spotlight, give the tenor horns a memorable exposed feature in the second half, and build toward a big, satisfying full-band finish. I’ll pay close attention to the practical side too, comfortable playing ranges, strong downbeats, off-beat inner parts, clear stops, useful comeback cues, and enough movement that players aren’t standing silent for long stretches. The hook will be recognizable within the opening bars, and I’ll shape the structure to keep the energy moving within your 2:30–3:00 target. I’ll deliver all the requested notation versions, including the Bb treble and concert bass-clef trombone parts, sousaphone versions, full score, rehearsal marks, and percussion cue staff. I’d be happy to send you samples of my previous arranging work. If you’re looking for an arrangement that feels made for your band rather than simply copied from the record, I’d love to create it.

Opening on the chorus rather than the intro is the right call here, Guggenmusik crowds need the hook immediately, there's no patience for a slow build when the band's marching outdoors. I'll structure the arrangement so trumpets and trombones genuinely alternate carrying the melody, not just trumpets with trombone harmony underneath, giving trombones real melodic weight in at least one full section. The tenor horn solo I'd place in the second half as you suggested, a stripped-back passage where they're exposed, then bring the full band back in with a driving tutti finish. Sousaphone kept to roots and fifths in half/quarter notes within your range, and I'll build in a percussion or bass pickup figure anywhere a section sits out for more than a bar or two, so nobody's guessing when to re-enter while marching from memory. Writing in Bb major as requested, that root placement is genuinely the right call for outdoor projection. Total length targeted at 2:30-3:00, trimming or looping sections of the original as needed to fit. Delivering the full score with rehearsal marks and a percussion cue line, plus parts: Trumpet 1 & 2 (Bb treble), Trombone 1 & 2 in both Bb treble and C bass clef, Tenor horn (Bb treble), and Sousaphone in both Bb treble and C bass clef. My account is very active with a consistent track record on band arrangement work. Happy to share relevant Guggenmusik or brass band charts if useful.

Hello, With the perfect blend of musicality and technical prowess, I am confident in bringing your vision for the "Someone to You" brass band arrangement to life. My deep understanding and appreciation for various musical styles, including the unique characteristics of Guggenmusik, will ensure that your composition captures the true essence of Swiss carnival street-brass music, while staying true to the original song. I am well-versed in adapting arrangements for different instruments and creating balanced melodic interplay, which makes me inclined to trade the melody between the trumpets and trombones throughout with a special solo passage just for the tenor horns. As a nod to your request for my own musical ideas, I will also ensure the arrangements have a recognizable hook within the first 8 bars - perhaps even starting with a chorus instead of the intro - keeping it compact within the time limits without losing any impactful moments. Furthermore, my experience in full-stack development translates into meticulous notation preparation and precision. Your prescribed practical constraints do not worry me at all. In fact, they challenge me to get creative with cues and percussions that keep everyone audibly connected throughout - an important aspect given that your band plays from memory while marching. Choose me for timeliness, professionalism, unflinching excellence, and a commitment to creating something truly exceptional for you! Thanks!

Your arrangement needs to feel like a real Guggenmusik performance, not simply a pop song transferred to six brass parts. The recognisable hook can hit within the first 8 bars, followed by a loud, driving arrangement built for outdoor performance and easy memorisation. The melody will move naturally between the trumpet and trombone sections so both get strong moments leading, while the tenor horns receive a clear exposed passage in the second half before the arrangement builds into a powerful full-band finish. The writing will respect the practical limits of an amateur marching band, including controlled trumpet ranges, simple and effective sousaphone movement, strong downbeats, off-beat inner voices, tutti stops, trombone glissandi, and clear cues for players returning after rests. The final package can include the Bb major arrangement, all required transposed and concert-pitch parts, separate trombone PDFs, rehearsal marks, and a percussion cue staff throughout. Would you like the arrangement to stay very close to the energy and tempo of the reference recording, or should it have a more aggressive carnival feel of its own??

I love the idea of arranging "Someone to You" for a Guggenmusik brass band. It's a vibrant style that thrives on energy and interaction between sections. One specific risk here is losing the excitement if sections don’t trade the melody effectively. If the trumpets dominate too much, it might miss that rich texture you want. This could lead to a performance that feels flat, especially outdoors. I'd start by balancing the melody between the trumpets and trombones, making sure both shine. The tenor horn solo can be a standout moment, and I’d position it to ensure a powerful finish with the full band. I've worked on similar arrangements before, so revisions are part of my process. They ensure that every part resonates with your vision. Would you like to explore how we can bring this arrangement to life together? It's a free consultation, and no pressure if you choose another option.

Hello, I understand that you need a full brass band arrangement of "Someone to You" tailored specifically for a Swiss carnival brass band, focusing on a vibrant and engaging presentation that can be performed from memory while marching. Your requirements for melody division between the trumpets and trombones, along with a solo passage for the tenor horns, are noted and appreciated. I have ample experience arranging for brass ensembles and can craft a lively and dynamic piece that meets your criteria. I would propose starting with the catchy hook right from the chorus to grab attention, ensuring the arrangement fits within 2:30 to 3:00 minutes. I will structure the trumpet and trombone sections to trade melodies, incorporating rhythmic off-beats and strategic tutti stops, while also ensuring the tenor horn has a highlighted solo moment in the latter half of the arrangement. The piece will be notated in Bb major, adhering to the practical constraints of your amateur band for maximum playability and audience impact. What specific music cues or transitions would you envision for the tenor horn's solo passage? https://www.freelancer.com/u/proggon Best regards, Wahaj Barlas.
