I have a Perl function that queries a MySQL database, performs some basic calculations on the returned data, and returns an array of results. This project is to take the existing Perl function and rewrite it as a MySQL stored procedure that can be called with the same parameters as the Perl function, and then returns a result set. The reason for the rewrite is to test whether there is a performance benefit to running this in the database instead of on the application server.
You must be able to complete this project using only the supplied source code; database access will not be provided. I can provide a schema for the tables that are involved. Because of that, I understand that you will not be able to fully test the stored procedure. That is acceptable as long as the procedure is valid MySQL syntax and is essentially correct.
