Arduino Sensor Data Saved to MySQL

I currently have an Arduino MEGA 2560 and along with this I have a range of sensors such as the DS18B20 (temperature) and Si7021 (temperature + humidity). I also have the ESP8266-12F WiFi shield to enable me to send and store this sensor data in my MySQL database. I can flash data to the ESP8266 via an FTDI serial converter.
What I would like to do, as a starter project and before I embark on a larger sensing project that involves an array of sensors, is to hook up the Si7021 to either the Arduino or directly to the FTDI and store the temperature & humidity data on my website MySQL server. Your job will be to design the wiring schematics for this project, provide the library for the Arduino IDE and the PHP code (I would prefer MySQLi). I am proficient in PHP yet a novice in all things Arduino, hence the reason why I am looking for a partner in this project. Part of your work will entail suggesting feasible power solutions, for example via a LiPo battery or via a conventional USB mains charger, and of course your schematics must take into consideration any eventual voltage dividers, resistors and capacitors. The Si7021 will be reading the temperature and humidity values from within an glass jar.
There are a multitude of instruction videos on Youtube and Instructables for completing this task, however I don't want to leave anything to chance and it would be nice for me to have an Arduino expert by my side answering my questions. By the way I can easily connect the Si7021 to a breadboard and view data via the Serial Monitor, this is a simple task even for an Arduino beginner; my issue is getting the ESP-12F to work with the Si7021 and the power and the MySQL server.
