I have 5 years experience writing Java, including multiple games, libraries, and more utilitarian programs, some of which have sent output to printers or communicated with other hardware via COM ports. I feel certain I can construct the POS & Inventory system you require, with full I/O capability for the cash drawer, barcode scanner, and printer. I also note that most stores I've been to have multiple registers, hence networking may be required to update the inventory system simultaneously from multiple registers. It so happens I've built a complicated (yet simple to use) networking system, complete with encryption support, into my main library, which I call SimpleLibrary. I note that I have not previously developed any POS systems, in accordance with your preference. Further, in accordance with your requirements, I have no qualms about packaging and submitting my entire project, including source code, build scripts, and compiled application. Hardcore developer. Have done similar work before. Also, barcode scanner is not part of development, you need hardware for the same. The code will compatible with the barcode scanner. Cost can be reduced, if you don't need the source code.
