Build a Clean, Professional looking Auction/Trading Website

Im trying to create an auction/trading website where members would be able to auction off items, trade items with each other, make offers to trade on auctions for an item, or an item and cash. Also id like members to have the ability to search through local listings on my site. I need the website to be very clean, look professional and user friendly, and id like the person on my website to enjoy being on it. I also want to create a logo for my site, [login to view URL] . Id prefer hand coding over using an html editor, so thats a plus.
