Lucene Search Project PHP

I am using MySQL cluster database and so cant use fulltext, which is how I was planning on doing my search component.
I need therefore need a component that interfaces wth my MySQL cluster database, and has a php interface to perform searches. I have several datatypes that require search people, product and comments. Each has title and description which must be searched. There are other parameters such as status, date which must be used. All result sets must be returned in the requested ordering i.e. by date, by rating, by closest match.
We use a clustered environment on a private lan, so ideally I would like one running lucene component talking to a sql node, that each of my remote php components could connect to to query.
This is all running on an FC6 OS and so any external requirements must be documented (well a list of prereqs is fine).
Hope this all makes sense to a lucene developer out there.
