Homepage Redesign HTML & CSS

I have attached the current state of the home page for [url removed, login to view] (if this deosn't quite display properly, please just visit the live URL). I would like a new homepage built with similar content, but a sharper, more modern design. I only require a redesign of a single page - the home page, and will include this in the wider site myself. There is no installation requirement - the deliverable will be a zip file containing all HTML, CSS, JavaScript etc. so that I can open the page offline in a browser.
I want the page to be properly designed with clean CSS & HTML code, so no tables. It must be compatible with all major browsers and platforms (Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, iPhone etc.). It shouldn't be too much work for someone with good CSS & HTML skills.
For examples of web sites which are for a similar purpose (promoting a small football club), but I think have a better design see [url removed, login to view], [url removed, login to view] or [url removed, login to view]
In particular I like their more graphical aspect of the main recent news stories as opposed to ours which is quite textual. I have included some pictures which can be used for this purpose in the attachment.
Where these main stories are situated, I would also like the option to embed video clips via youtube. Any javascript or CSS features used to flip between the highlighted story should be compatible with the videos as well, because it may be that the video is not the most recent news story. The key design constraints are that the club colours are red, black and white, so please stick with this.
