This is for major written languages used in India: Hindi, English, Bengali, Telugu, Marathi, Tamil, Urdu, Gujarati, Malayalam, Kannada, Oriya, Punjabi, Assamese, Kashmiri, Sindhi, Sanskrit and more. This is to collect hand writing data for training a handwriting recognition engine. We need at least 600 people each to write the full alphabets of one or more Indian languages. Each person is required to write naturally (the same as usual writing) An ink data collection program will be provided. Note: please translate one page set up prompts into local language. A few external touch-pads and/or pen-based PDA will be provided. NOTE: a few PC/Notebooks need to be prepared by the task manger on site. The software first displays the alphabet to be written in a Text Window. A person holding a touchpad in left-hand writes that alphabet on a touchpad using finger of right-hand. NOTE: It is required that touchpad NOT be sat on a solid surface as the program is simulating real-life use of handheld devices. The written ink data is displayed in an Ink Window. When the writer clicks the OK button on the touch-pad, the written ink data is sent to a recognition engine and the results are displayed in the Ink Window. The writer can press the DEL button of the touchpad any time he wants to clear in the middle of his action. The task manager is required have people to monitor the process on site. It is necessary to manually check about 10% of the data and make sure the overall process is well in control. Universities/schools and shopping malls are good places to setup the stand to attract people to participate in the project. Please make your proposal on how to organize the project and break down your bid based on cost on field work and your own compensation for managing the project. At least 600 data files total with good qualities. The collection programs will generate the data files automatically.
