VLC is a not-for-profit organisation which is responsible for the world’s leading open-source audio-visual media player for Windows. It is typically presented to developers as an ActiveX control which can be registered with Windows and then added to the Visual Studio Toolbox for dragging-and-dropping on to forms.

states that the source code can be compiled into an EXE or a DLL, and that is what this Project is about. I am looking for a someone very proficient in the C programming language who can compile the VLC source code (available from the above web site and its mirrors) into a standalone EXE which I can then shell from a WinForms application. By going this route, we avoid the complexities and unpredictabilities of having to register an ActiveX control on our end-users’ computers.

So, if you feel that you have the necessary C programming skills and time available to get onto this work quickly, please bid. I look forward to reading submissions.

Our timeframe is that we would like to see a beta within ten days and a final version within three weeks.

Sincerely,

Peter.
