We are in need of a program that has the ability to do the following:
Admin area:
- add/delete/inactivate/edit Customer information including the follow information: Name, billing address, service address(s) (can be multiple), contact, phone, email, notes, contracted hours (could be monthly, weekly or straight hourly), account type (one-shot, monthly, quality assurance, etc..)
- employee information with user level of admin (can do all) and data entry (can only enter data).
- category list for billing purposes
- specialized reports based on entered data
- ability to export reports or data into QuickBooks
- ability to assign employee specific hours to each customer (multiple employees can work fulfill customer hours)
--- EX: Customer: Worldy Widgets, Contracted Hours: 12 hr per month, Employee(s): John - 6hrs, Joe - 2hrs, Brain - 4hrs)
How this should work very simple:
- upon log in, select a customer from a list
- enter or select a date of service (should track date entered but show the date select for billing purposes)
- based on who is logged in, default person for service is set, ability to change service person as needed (but should track who entered the info)
- Select a billing category and subsequent category based on main selection ( will supply categories)
- enter amount of hours spent
- enter notes on activities for billing purposes (can be left blank)
-- can enter multiple items in the same session and/or for the same date
-- Employee should also have in office hours set up just like above, so they can enter their "administrative" or personal hours for our company.
Report or overview for each customer:
- when you choose a customer it should list all billable entries.
- should show total hours billed
- remaining or over-billed hours based on contracted hours.
Report or overview for each employee:
- list of all customers with the hours each employee worked as based on their assignments
Reports using all the entered data should be easy to run, can go into more detail when needed.
I know this is not a complicated program as everything above is currently done in an excel document but it is becoming more of a pain to organize as we grow.

"specialized reports based on entered data" should be a non story history, if you need too many reports it better to export to Spread Sheet and run pivot tables. I may offer a set of RESTFull inquiries to let you have a freedom interaction between Spread Sheet and the data.
Quickbook exports (.IIF files) should be defined in the analysis phase. Assumed: Invoices
