What is the URL of the site? What do you deem as slow? At what point is the site running slow? What sort of traffic volumes are you getting? For instance are you reaching 10,000 concurrent users then noticing it go slow for checkout? Or are you managing 30 people on the site just browsing and then noticing it slow? Which bit is slow? Loading of webpages? Admin access as well as website access? Something else? Think about the architecture of the Magento site - the problem could be at one, or multiple points, below: - it's sat on hardware, on a network, with a provider/hosting company - it's written with PHP code (core Magento and extensions) at the back-end - it's written with HTML, JavaScript and CSS at the front-end - is there any caching in place? (either code-based, or web/page load based - so Memcached, or Varnish, etc) How many SKUs do you have on the site? How many stores do you have on the Magento installation? What version of Magento are you running? (Community or Enterprise and which version number?) Who provides the hosting - what's the details of the hosting? (single VPS, multi-server dedicated setup, AWS, etc) If you can provide answers to those to start, myself or others in this group can help some more?

Recently I have worked on different such magento/wordpress based sites for speed optimization. I am thinking of setting up pagespeed on your server to improve its performance and load time. You will love it. And i am sure you will see improvements. At the end of the day megento speed will depend on your available RAM. Let me know.

Hi This issue is quite simple i suppose. It's very likely the DB does not have indexes on search fields. Also MySql database has some features which general web developers not aware. Hello. I'm webserver administrator with 10 years of experience. I can configure your VPS for optimal performance for Magento and also speed-up Magento.

If it is only a VPS, there is little you can really do, I have done this in the past and have had good results 1) Install VARNISH on your VPS 2) Install a VARNISH CACHE module on your store It takes about 2 hours to do it. Basic install, the biggest issue is if your theme has custom code that does not fit with the cache module, you need to "hole punch" which takes more time. The best I can do is offer varnish and magento to be working well, more work may be required. Do you know what I mean? I do not believe changing mysql settings is going to do anything, if your site is slow due to LOAD you need to do varnish caching. If you have no clients, and magento is slow, you need a new vps, The server I use is $50usd/month and is AMAZINGLY fast (ssd hard drive etc) Derek
