Some changes woocommerce backend

We are a small boostore and we have a website (wordpress + woocommerce). Our product has two custom field: one for the writer of the book (we use the same field for the director in the case of the DVD); second field is manufacturer ie the editor of the books).
We want to simplify the way we work with the custom fields. We want to:
- change the manufacturer in to brand. We can use any brands plugin for woo commerce available in the market for that. But you need to find a way to move all the manufacturer entries in the brands entries and eliminate the duplicates.
- make something similar for the writer field. We want to be able to have the name of the writer in the product page and have it clickable. We need to have an alphabetical list of the writers. In a ideal world: for the new product that we'll pun in the website, we want to have an ajax form, enter the first 3 letters and choose the writer. Please note that one product can have 2 or 3 writers.
