Wordpress Plugin Change to Show Day of Week in Posterboard Cards

To modify existing Wordpress Plugin to show Day-Of-Week on Posterboard Cards. Currently only shows Month and Day in the colored rectangle at the upper-right. We want the day-of-week, such as Mon or Thu or Sat in the same colored box (see the mockups attached). Existing Plugin: [login to view URL] Part of this Plugin: [login to view URL] The Task: To add Day-of-the-Week information to the Posterboard Cards by modifying the template and scripts as necessary. Part of the Problem: Day of the Week is currently missing from the array used to build the card, as found in line 255 of the script in '[login to view URL]'. You can add to this array and then reference the item in the template. How do we do this?
