Write a TV guide scraper extracting data from [login to view URL]

Hi there;
I need to make an automation script that will pull tv guide data every few days and then extract out the data for the channels that I carry for my area. This can be done manually but it takes a long time due to file size of data. Here is the basic structure on how it should work.
1) extract the guide data from [login to view URL]
2) compare my list of channels to the xml data that was retrieved
3) extract channel data out with xml headers in same format as it is in the xml
4) after extraction, convert xml doc to a file name [login to view URL] and zip it
5) Upload [login to view URL] to a remote ftp site
