Write some Camera Club Software

A Specification to develop a generic Online Database, Competition Management System (CMS) and Administrative Framework for Camera Clubs and Societies. The Project Outline: The project is to create an on-line portal for administering camera clubs and photographic competitions, replacing off- line processes and manual procedures with an interactive, web-based system. The system is intended to both manage individual member’s records, club photographic competitions and a photograph gallery. It is to be a generic program flexible enough to be used by a wide range of clubs and societies. The software chosen should be created solely using Open Source software (preferable MySql and PHP) so that no cost outlay is necessary as a pre-requisite for creating and deploying the software. This system should also be constructed in such a way that data input and management of the database is user-friendly, flexible and easily managed/used by non-technical individuals using intuitive interfaces accessible via a web browser. Wherever possible, it should be possible for non-technical administrators to vary internal elements without resorting to manually adjusting the underlying code. Administrators of the software should be able to modify underlying assumptions utilising control panels with drop down menus or editable boxes as appropriate. The package should be accessible via a hierarchical password system allowing limited access to various individuals, such access to be controlled by the administrators. The underlying software and programming should comply with recognized database standards and be constructed within a clearly structured framework. It must be readily understood by any competent programmer so that future structural modifications may be made by programmers other than the original creators. The software should be capable of maintaining a membership base of several hundred members. Each member’s record should contain information as detailed elsewhere in the main specification. Wherever possible it should also allow sufficient flexibility for the club to add further information categories if required, again using a user friendly interface or control panel which does not require programming knowledge. The software should be presented in an aesthetic, modern manner such that it presents a professional looking interface with easily followed menus, instructions and a generally welcoming and user-friendly interface. A “skinned approach” would be ideal so that clubs could choose a colour scheme to suit their individual preferences. It should be designed such that it can be readily linked to a club’s existing webpage and thus integrated with their existing websites. There are many sophisticated and complex processes involved in administering photographic competitions which involve multiple categories of members, photographs and competition types and which embrace complicated permutations, variables and concepts. The programmer must therefore have not only excellent programming skills but also an excellent grasp of the English language in order to fully absorb and interpret the specification for this project.
