On security, the detail that decides whether it is real: method-level authorization on the service layer, not just URL patterns in the filter chain. Route-only rules leak the moment someone adds a controller and forgets to map it. Tests that are worth having: integration tests against a real MySQL in Testcontainers rather than H2. H2 passes and MySQL fails on exactly the things that matter — collation, date handling, constraint behaviour. Maven, Boot with MVC and Data JPA, DTOs at the boundary so entities never leak into REST responses, Bean Validation on inputs, and commits small enough to review.
