Bitcoin Block Explorer Alternative on a Local Database

Help me setup and use Bitcoin-Abe (an open-source Bitcoin Block Chain Explorer) or other open source software that will do the same thing as Bitcoin-Abe or blockchain.info. I need to be able to do balance queries for a potential open source POS (point of sale) device that would allow vendors and customers to use Bitcoins. Right now, I just need an offline database of the block chain. Since I'm not a database person, I need your help to: 1. Evaluate Bitcoin-Abe or other similar utilities 2. Pick the best one 3. Get it and a database set up on my Win7 x64 device and running smoothly (I need detailed instructions and troubleshooting to ensure it works) 4. Help me with a few sample queries, the first query is simply providing a wallet address and asking for the current balance This should be a few hours of work at most, and a few emails back and forth. I expect this to be inexpensive, but whoever gets awarded this bid will be my first choice for later software development / database work.
