I’m shooting a short narrative piece entirely outdoors and need a skilled sound recordist to capture production audio on location. Clean dialogue is the priority, so you’ll be working with a boom microphone setup throughout the day, tracking every take while keeping wind and environmental noise under control. Bring your own professional boom, shock-mount, windshield, field recorder, and monitoring headphones. At wrap I’ll need the raw, high-resolution WAV files plus a brief sound report noting scene, take, and any issues; syncing will be handled later. You should feel confident balancing multiple actors’ voices in an open space, riding levels live, and solving any on-set audio hiccups quickly so we don’t lose momentum. If you have recent samples of outdoor dialogue you’ve recorded, please share them when you respond. Filming would start early morning probably on the 15 September in Twickenham.

Capturing clean dialogue outdoors has its challenges. Wind and environmental noise can easily sabotage a good take, costing time and quality. If the audio isn’t right, it can derail the entire project and force costly reshoots. I’d focus on setting up the boom microphone with a solid shock-mount and windshield first. This way, I can minimize wind interference and maintain clarity as the actors move. I’ll monitor levels live to adjust quickly if issues arise, keeping us in rhythm. I’ve worked on similar outdoor projects before and know the importance of a sound report. I always note scene, take, and any challenges, ensuring everything is clear for post-production. Do you have a specific time for the shoot on the 15th? Also, what’s the expected length of the film?
