Please read the complete description, especially the funding arrangement, before submitting a proposal. PROJECT OVERVIEW Boreal Frontier is a realistic open-world forestry simulation game for Windows PC, developed with Unreal Engine 5. The game will offer a true open world rather than a level-based experience. Players will be free to explore a large boreal environment, operate forestry machinery, cut and transport timber, complete jobs, manage their money, and progressively develop their forestry operation. The project must be developed from scratch. The initial objective is not to create the complete final game, but to produce a solid and expandable prototype proving the main gameplay systems. Kickstarter: [login to view URL] PLANNED PROTOTYPE FEATURES The final scope will be confirmed in the GDD and divided into milestones, but the planned systems include: - A realistic open-world boreal environment using World Partition - Forests, dirt roads, mud, slopes, and difficult terrain - Realistic vehicle physics, suspension, traction, weight, and the possibility of getting stuck - Entering, exiting, and operating vehicles and forestry machinery - Tree cutting, realistic tree falling, delimbing, and cutting logs into different lengths - Physically simulated logs that can be moved, loaded, transported, lost, and sold - Forestry machines, cranes, grapples, pickups, and logging vehicles - A basic economy, contracts, progression, and interface - Cooperative multiplayer with proper replication and server authority - Player, vehicle, world, and economic save systems - Optimization for Windows computers - A project architecture that can be expanded into the complete game IMPORTANT FUNDING ARRANGEMENT Boreal Frontier is currently seeking financing through Kickstarter. I cannot fund the complete development before the campaign succeeds. I am looking for a serious developer willing to first create a very small and quickly produced pre-alpha mockup at no initial cost. This is not a request for a complete free prototype. The initial mockup only needs enough genuine in-engine gameplay to create a convincing 30–60-second Kickstarter video. Temporary or Marketplace assets may be used. The mockup could contain: - A small boreal forest environment - One basic drivable vehicle - A simple demonstration of vehicle and terrain physics - If reasonably possible, one basic tree or physical-log interaction - Genuine gameplay footage recorded directly inside Unreal Engine The footage will be clearly identified as an early pre-alpha concept. The selected developer will be credited for creating the mockup. I will require written permission to publish and edit the footage for Kickstarter, social media, and Boreal Frontier promotional material. If the Kickstarter campaign succeeds, and after the developer’s experience and technical ability have been verified, my intention is to hire the same developer for the complete paid prototype. All paid work will then be handled through funded Freelancer Milestone Payments. If the campaign does not succeed, I must be transparent that payment and the complete development contract cannot be guaranteed. In this situation, the developer may retain ownership of the mockup and its source files. CONDITIONS FOR THE PAID DEVELOPMENT PHASE If financing is secured: - A detailed scope, fixed quote, schedule, and milestone plan will be agreed upon in writing - All payments will remain on Freelancer - Payments will be released only after each milestone has been delivered, tested, and approved - A shared private repository will be required from the beginning of paid development - Every milestone must include the complete Unreal Engine project, source code, assets, licences, documentation, and a playable Windows build - All third-party assets and plugins must be declared and properly licensed - All project-specific intellectual property will be transferred according to the written contract - Regular progress videos and written updates will be required REQUIRED EXPERIENCE The ideal candidate must have verifiable experience with: - Unreal Engine 5 - Blueprints and C++ - World Partition and open-world optimization - Chaos Vehicles or advanced custom vehicle physics - Physical cargo, logs, cranes, or machinery - Multiplayer replication and server-authoritative systems - Save systems and persistent worlds - Git, Perforce, or another professional version-control system PORTFOLIO VERIFICATION Do not provide links to famous games unless you personally worked on them. For every project presented, clearly state: - Your exact role - The features you personally developed - The studio or client - Your credited name - Verifiable credits, gameplay, builds, professional references, or development footage Public links and screenshots alone will not be considered sufficient proof. HOW TO APPLY Begin your proposal with the words “BOREAL VERIFIED” to confirm that you read the complete description. Please answer the following questions: 1. Do you accept the funding arrangement and understand that the small initial mockup is unpaid? 2. What could you realistically include in this small mockup? 3. How quickly could you create the mockup and gameplay footage? 4. Which relevant Unreal Engine projects have you personally developed? 5. What exactly did you create in each project? 6. Would you work independently or with a team? 7. What technical approach would you use for vehicles, physical logs, multiplayer, and saving? 8. After successful funding, what would be your estimated price, currency, and schedule for the complete prototype? 9. When are you available to begin? Generic or automated proposals that do not answer these questions will not be considered. I am looking for a reliable developer interested in a serious long-term collaboration and in helping Boreal Frontier become a unique and highly realistic forestry simulation.

BOREAL VERIFIED. I accept the funding arrangement and understand the initial mockup is unpaid. The practical path is to build the mockup as a functional vertical slice: a small boreal terrain with World Partition, one Chaos Vehicle with weight and traction behavior that visibly reacts to mud and slopes, and a physical log/crane interaction recorded as genuine in-engine gameplay. I’ll keep the architecture separated from the start so vehicle physics, physical cargo, save data, and multiplayer replication extend cleanly into the paid prototype without a rewrite. I’ll work independently, use placeholder assets only where they don’t hide real systems, and give you editable pre-alpha footage clearly labeled for Kickstarter. I can start immediately and structure the mockup so you get usable recordings as soon as core interactions are proven rather than waiting for one final build.

Hello There! I’m Md Toriqul Islam, an experienced Unreal Engine developer specializing in UE5, C++, Blueprints, gameplay systems, physics, multiplayer architecture, open-world development, and performance optimization. I understand Boreal Frontier requires a genuine UE5 pre-alpha mockup first, followed by a scalable paid prototype if Kickstarter funding succeeds. The architecture should support realistic vehicles, forestry interactions, physical logs, multiplayer, saving, and future expansion. I am skilled in Unreal Engine 5, C++, Blueprints, Chaos Vehicles, World Partition, replication, server-authoritative systems, physics simulation, save systems, Git/Perforce, and open-world optimization. A few questions: 1) Do you already have a preferred Marketplace/temporary asset pack for the mockup? 2) Will the Kickstarter video require only gameplay footage, or also basic UI/camera presentation? 3) Do you already have the latest GDD available for review? I’m interested in building this as a long-term Unreal project and can start with the focused mockup before moving into the funded prototype. Looking forward to hearing from you. Best regards, Md Toriqul Islam

BOREAL VERIFIED Hello, I’ve reviewed the complete Boreal Frontier scope, including the Kickstarter funding arrangement. I understand that the initial small pre-alpha mockup is unpaid, with funded development beginning only if the campaign succeeds, and I accept that structure. For the mockup, I can realistically target a compact UE5 boreal environment, one drivable Chaos Vehicle with terrain/suspension behavior, and a basic physics-based tree/log interaction, producing genuine 30–60 second in-engine footage. A focused mockup should take approximately 5–7 days. For the paid prototype, I’d structure the project around UE5 C++ + Blueprints, World Partition, Chaos physics, server-authoritative replication, replicated physics interactions, and a persistent SaveGame architecture. Git/LFS or Perforce would be used from the start. I would work independently and can begin immediately. Relevant Unreal projects, my exact responsibilities, credits, and development evidence can be shared privately for verification rather than claiming unrelated public titles. For the funded phase, I’d suggest finalizing the GDD first, then providing a fixed CAD quote and approximately 4–6 month milestone schedule based on the confirmed scope. Best regards, Carlos

I understand you're building a large-scale, open-world forestry simulation in Unreal Engine 5, prioritizing realism and player freedom. My experience developing complex, interconnected systems for open-world games, including dynamic resource management and AI-driven economies, directly aligns with your need to create a believable and engaging player experience from the ground up. My approach will involve leveraging Unreal Engine 5's robust systems for world generation and foliage management. I'll implement a modular system for procedural terrain and biome generation, coupled with a sophisticated AI system for timber growth, decay, and regeneration cycles. For gameplay mechanics, I'll focus on creating intuitive control schemes for heavy machinery and a data-driven economic model that responds realistically to player actions and market fluctuations. Given the open-world nature, how do you envision handling player progression and the initial onboarding experience to ensure players can immediately engage with the core mechanics? Additionally, have you considered specific methodologies for optimizing performance in a large, dynamic environment to maintain a smooth framerate? I'm eager to discuss these details further.

I've read the brief carefully, and I understand you need a developer willing to build a small, convincing pre-alpha mockup at no cost first, then move to paid work only if Kickstarter succeeds. That's a genuine ask, not a free labor trap, and I respect the clarity. I'd focus the mockup on what sells in 30-60 seconds: a small boreal landscape with one drivable vehicle that visibly responds to terrain, mud, slopes, and weight. I'd prioritize real physics over polish. One tree interaction or physical log demonstration would add credibility without scope creep. Everything recorded directly in-engine as you specified. I've built vehicle systems and terrain interactions in UE5 before, and I'm comfortable working solo with version control from day one. I can knock out a tight mockup in 2-3 weeks. If you want to talk specifics about what I've actually shipped and see whether we're aligned on technical approach, I'm open to that conversation. Corné

BOREAL VERIFIED "Small UE5 Mockup With Real Physics + Clear Path To Full Prototype" – you need a convincing pre‑alpha slice that shows genuine gameplay for Kickstarter without building the whole game. 1. Yes — I accept the funding arrangement and understand the initial mockup is unpaid. 2. Realistically: a small boreal forest using World Partition, one drivable Chaos‑vehicle with suspension/traction, basic terrain physics (mud/slopes), and one simple tree/log interaction for authentic footage. 3. I can produce the mockup + 30–60s gameplay capture in about one week. 4. I’ve built simulation‑style systems before — my 3D hot‑spring scene (https://www.freelancer.com/projects/three-js/Artistic-Hot-Spring-Visualization/reviews) shows I can deliver physics‑driven environments and clean technical setups. 5. In that project I created the full scene: modelling, physics interactions, rendering, and animation. 6. I would work independently. 7. Vehicles: Chaos Vehicles with tuned suspension/traction; logs: Chaos rigid bodies with constraints; multiplayer: server‑authoritative replication; saving: structured JSON + world-state snapshots. 8. After funding, I estimate a full prototype in the lower range of your budget window with a milestone plan of ~8–12 weeks. 9. I can begin immediately. Which specific machine (pickup, skidder, or forwarder) should appear in the Kickstarter mockup? Looking forward to working with you. Artur Giżycki

BOREAL VERIFIED Hi, I like this project because realistic forestry gameplay depends on physics and persistent systems, not just a good-looking forest. I’ve worked with Unreal Engine 5, C++/Blueprints, vehicle systems, physics interactions, optimization, and gameplay architecture. I understand the unpaid mockup arrangement and can create a small UE5 scene with a boreal environment, drivable vehicle, terrain/traction physics, and a basic tree/log interaction suitable for 30–60 seconds of Kickstarter footage. I’d keep it clean enough to evolve into the paid prototype. For the paid phase, I’d approach vehicles with Chaos/custom physics, logs with replicated physics and server authority, World Partition for the open world, and structured save data for persistent progress. For the mockup, would you prefer vehicle handling or tree/log interaction to be the main visual focus?

Hello, Boreal Frontier is exactly the kind of long-term project I’m interested in—heavy machinery, realistic physics, and challenging terrain. I accept the funding arrangement, including the unpaid initial mockup and the stated ownership and promotional terms. For the mockup, I can deliver: - A small boreal environment with slopes, mud, rutted roads, and conifer forest - A drivable forestry vehicle with realistic suspension, traction loss, and the possibility of getting stuck - Enter/exit functionality and a clean driving camera - One physics-based log interaction - Atmospheric lighting, fog, raw footage, and a 45-second editable cut For Nordic Haul, I built the complete vehicle layer using Unreal Engine’s Chaos Vehicles, custom suspension and surface-friction systems, plus a physics-based winch. It maintained 60 frames per second on a GTX 1660, and I delivered all four milestones on schedule. I’d be glad to discuss the next steps. Best regards, Adam
