Hi, I am interested in a travel experience in Italy. I have been learning Italian the last 18 months and want to take the next step by immersing myself in Italy. With Brexit i found it has been a very difficult and painful process to try and understand exactly what type of visa’s you might need and what you can and can’t do with Italy. (I am a uk citizen and have a British passport) I was wondering if you were able to give any advice on the following: I have applied for a long term stay study visa (121 days) with the 5th May being my intended travel date. I applied for this on the 8th April, but unfortunately still waiting to hear back from the [login to view URL] as it is still with the Italian consulate. I have been down to both the VFS Global and the Italian Consulate in london; but neither have been very helpful (They have now said it can take up to 3 months to process) I have taken a sabbatical from work (starting 9th May) which I can take up to a year. Ideally what I would like to do is spend 3/4 months studying Italian on my study visa I have applied for. I would then like to travel across Italy in sept/oct using my usual 90 within 180 day allowance. (Might need to be Oct/Nov due to visa not yet issued) I would then potentially like to do a skiing work season Jan-Apr 2023 also in Italy. Ideal itinerary: •Study Italian in florence 3/4 months Jun-Sep. -Currently waiting for a D Long term stay visa. •Travel across Italy 2 months Sept/Oct. -Can I use my 90 day allowance within 180 days? •Work a ski season in Italy 4 months Jan-Apr. -Obtain a work visa to do this. Do you think this is possible to do or would you advise anything else? Do you also know if there is any way of chasing up my current visa application process as it has already passed the intended travel date? Ideally I would like to gain as much time in Italy as possible to further advance my Italian. I look forward to hearing your thoughts and thank you for taking the time to read through. Many thanks, Michael

Hi Michael! My name is Maria, I am Italian and I believe I can help you out :) First of all, I admire your determination in pursuing your Italian lanugage studies in Italy. I have gone through something similar when I went to the United States to study English. I am a graduate student of European Studies and International Relations so I am very used to dig into Euroepan legislation and burocracy. I have also done a traineeship at an office of the Italian Embassy in Stockholm where I would help people with questions like yours. I can do some research to answer all your questions. I am at your disposal so let me know :)

I can ask to a local office that's used to advise young Italian as well as foreign students. I' m quite well oriented and in depht as far as collection info from institutions. I know where to look for basically. I lived in Britain for 3 years before Brexit, travelled a bit, been to Florence a few times, to Northern Italy and Southern Italy, not to mention Centre Italy, where i live in. Hopefully i should be capable of a good help. Best wishes
