Hi Ian, I've had a look at your site, and it is indeed loading quite slowly. I think there are a couple of problems here, and the main one is that your images aren't optimized. That's a simple fix, but optimizing your images will cut down significantly on the amount of data that has to be transferred as your page is loading. You can also set up caching and minifying of your CSS and JS, which will also boost things. You can look at caching through a WordPress plugin and/or through a service like Cloudflare.
