Having worked in the defence and telecoms sectors both as staff and as a consultant, I am now the software design partner at 4bizSoftware. I also work freelance as a process analyst and technical author. As a software designer, I write database applications for small businesses including retail. These applications include stock control, CRM, management and analysis. I now write in Adobe Air (JavaScript, CSS3, HTML5, XML and PHP), and I 'dabble' in Python and PYGTK+. As well as writing software, I offer a consultancy service to others such as website design agencies. As a process analyst, I help business owners to reduce waste and save costs by tuning their business work flows. I provide a top down service starting with mind mapping and following with modelling flow then onto process improvement. As a technical author, I write manuals and help files for software, hardware and electromechanical systems. These can be delivered in HTML, XML or PDF formats. In this context, I am mindful of the documents audience and so use Simplified Technical English where appropriate. Whilst not staring at a flat screen, I enjoy walking, wooden boats and have a life-long love of the UK countryside and its wildlife.
