This is a placeholder for my current project, soon to be signed off. The project: 1) Download region data (in the public domain) as OpenStreetMap format. 2) Restrict that massive dataset to a bounding box in an area of interest (roughly the size of Munich). 3) Extract only the data we are interested in (sidewalk, bus, train etc.) and transfer to an intermediate table for processing. 4) Having added hash indexes for quick conversion, move the reduced dataset into a local PostGIS database. 5) Install the latest (required for bugfixes) versions of osm2pgsql, pgRouting and geoserver software. All free and open source. 6) Using pgRouting, build a network, build vertices, and link a geoserver PostGIS layer to the data via some simple plpgsql functions. 7) Build a web interface (I used tomcat8) showing a map, built with the FOSS OpenLayers JavaScript library. Then overlay a Dijkstra directed geoserver layer between two points (clicks) on the map showing a cost-inclusive fastest route.

Public transport isochrones with OSM data (PostGIS + pgRouting or similar)
In this project, Philip did amazing job, going above and beyond my expectations! He demonstrated deep knowledge of GIS, Postgres (including pgSQL functions, pgRouting and Postgis extensions), Linux as well as strong software development and problem solving skills. All the communications and milestones were delivered on time and with high level of professionalism. I'll be happy to work with Philip again!
