Event Posting and Notification App

The project is in 2 phases: the web app phase and the native app phase.

The app will be a searchable, browsable repository of upcoming events such as music concerts, art exhibits, business conferences, and so on. Event information can be contributed by the user community although initial information to populate the site will come from sourced content by administrators of the website. Users can create accounts with the profiles to add information about events, venues and performers, or connect to the site via their facebook or google accounts.

the app will also offer users reminders via email and SMS when a particular event is about to occur.

Users can search for events listed by time, date, category/type, location, performer and descriptive keyword. Users can create private or public calendars including calendars which automatically update when events matching criteria are added or existing events are modified.

Event Guides will allow users to get personalized event recommendations and alerts for favorite events via email or sms.

The site will also include movie listing section with showing times and venues. Should include ad sections.

UI suggestions: flipboard / facebook paper

The native app should be able to alert users when they are in the radius of an event category they have an interest in or have listed as attend.
