My motto is to translate texts based on the content rather than literally, in order to focus more on the writing style though maintaining the original sense and mood. In other words, I believe that a translated text must not only be correctly translated: the reader needs to find "that" something which makes them think that it was originally written in their language, they need to perceive a sort of lingual connection between them and the author in spite of the language it was incipiently written in.
