## BIO
Summary
I'm just a starving computer science graduate that happened to graduate into the worst economy in 70+ years. I have a wealth of talents (see the "about me" below for details), I'm professional and I excel at providing services that exceed the customer's expectations.
About Me
Imagine, for a moment, that you are a young adult, stepping from high school into a world that closely resembles a market bazaar. From every corner and from every booth, a wide range of universities, vocations, careers, and business ventures recruit the newest adults like carnival barkers at a fair. Each newly minted adult makes a choice and embarks on their first adventures; some with success, some with failure.
What did I do? I left the market altogether and walked off into the woods, determined to find something more than the market had to offer.
That road took me through various cultures, far-reaching social and economic levels and various racial groups. I studied history, philosophy, theology, business, sociology, psychology and the arts, gleaning a vast wealth of information, but ultimately rejecting each subject as the basis of a career. This, in combination with my first career in hospitality, instilled in me a number of values, character traits, and skills that I bring to the field of software development and to my customers.
* *Service is not just a buzzword; its a way of life.*
If you want to be truly happy in life, spend yourself on behalf of others. I build business and personal relationships by consistently going above and beyond on behalf of customers, friends, acquaintances, and family. Its not a burden; its a pleasure.
* *If you want to truly help others, first take the time to walk in their shoes, and then find ways to solve their problems.*
From a software perspective, this means that I have spent years helping others to understand their information systems and I know what they want, what they do not want, and what they need. When designing any application, I have a keen ability to keep the end user in mind.
* *The secret to going above and beyond for anybody is to find ways to improve upon the quality of the product or service being offered.*
Quality assurance was a character trait of mine long before it became an industry buzzword. Its not just about producing a product; its about producing a product that truly performs the way it should and assists the user in accomplishing their mission, rather than hindering them.
* *If you are going to serve the widest possible range of people, you need to be able to communicate with the widest possible audience.*
One of the single biggest complaints I have heard about other professionals in this industry is their inability to communicate in a language other than geek. I possess the rare ability to bridge the gap between developer and customer and find a middle ground that meets the needs of all.
If you find some of these abilities intriguing, feel free to drop me a line and lets talk.
## Area of Expertise
There are four levels of knowledge in software development: expert, intermediate, rookie...and CS grads. What's the difference between a rookie and a CS grad? The CS grad doesn't even know that he knows nothing yet...
Although I am a recent graduate, I have graduated to the level of rookie with lots of sweat and determination. Since honesty and integrity is my foremost attribute, I'm not going to glaze over my inexperience. However, if I bid for your business, I am confident I can do the work above and beyond your expectations (if I think I can only do the work at a level that meets your expectations, I won't bid).
At this point in time, I feel comfortable offering the following services:
* XHTML (Strict and Transitional)
* CSS (up to 3.0)
* Javascript (not an expert yet, but I can do a few things)
* SQL
* Software design and analysis (if all you need is tasks such as requirements engineering and analysis modeling, I'm a VERY strong candidate).
* UML
In short, my coding skills will improve over the coming months but, when it comes to delivering a quality software product, I have some rather exceptional skills born from twenty years of business experience (see the "About me" for a description). Drop me a line to learn more.
