Since you're billed depending upon the size of files that you store in S3, so it's important to make sure to compress it and then transfer them to s3. I have performed this task many times. The time required is based on the average bandwidth between the two sites (typically 300 gigs across an internet connection can take any from a couple hours to a couple days for compressed audio and video) and is hands off once the process is started. I've made an assumption that the S3 volume is already configured and accessible. Because Dropbox does not have a way to directly talk to the Amazon API, the data will need to be centrally located first and then uploaded (from Dropbox to intermediary, from intermediary to AWS S3 cloud). Hi, this should be pretty straight forward to do. I will create an EC2 instance, download everything in your dropbox account and upload it again to your S3 bucket in your region of choice. As everything is happening inside the AWS Infrastructure, it should be very fast. Are the 300GB the total size of your dropbox account, or only a few folders you want to move? You need the file structure to be the same or a little different? Let me know if you have any questions, I will answer them as soon as possible.

Hello, I read about your project and I can certainly help with what you need. For such a large volume of data, rather than downloading and uploading each file manually, I would instead create a script that will automatically grab the files from dropbox via its API, and then upload them back up to your Amazon S3 bucket through the S3 API as well. This would result in an error free transfer as file integrity can be checked at every step of the process. I have an AWS EC2 server where I can run this from to make sure there are no bandwidth problems either, so the whole transfer should be complete within several hours, depending on the transfer speed we can get from dropbox throughout the 300 Gbs. At the end of the process, you can keep the script should you ever need to run another transfer like that. I have worked with both of these APIs for quite some time, so I can certainly finish what you need in the time estimated. Should be a pretty simple tasks depending on the access you have to the servers. I've been a sys admin for over 10 years.
