Our company is seeking an experienced accounting professional to serve as the controller. The Controller position develops procedures for internal control and coordinates accounting, budgets, auditing, taxes and related activities and records; prepares financial statements, maintains all accounting records and bank statements and evaluates operating results based on revenue, policies, and budgets. Roles and Responsibilities. Prepare financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, cash forecasting, procurement, investment activities and annual budgets for the Club. Work closely with GM to develop strategic vision for the club while being respectful of governance model. Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compiles a variety of special reports. Develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for activities such as budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounting. Coordinate with independent CPA firm for audits of the Club and preparation of the all tax returns. Analyze the financial details of past, present, and future operations in order to identify development opportunities and areas where improvement is needed. Oversee the receipt, disbursement, banking, protection, and custody of funds, securities and financial instruments. Lead staff training and development in budgeting and financial management area. Supervises staff performing financial reporting, accounting, billing, collections, payroll, and human resources and budgeting duties. Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives and current accounting standards. Coordinate and direct information systems to include server administration and computer accounting information systems. Serve as staff liaison for the club finance committee. As such, work closely with the Finance Committee Chair to coordinate meetings and reporting of activities to Board of Directors. Experienced in coordinating and overseeing the financial aspects of major club improvement projects, especially as these relate to construction and renovation projects. Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance required plus 10 years relevant experience. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or some public accounting background is desired. Hospitality industries experience a plus. Familiar with "Uniform System of Accounts for Clubs". Experienced in "best accounting practices" in top performing hospitality organizations. Excellent financial skills, with the ability to quickly assimilate numbers and reports and provide well-reasoned, thoughtful, and succinct reports and recommendations. A high degree of proficiency with MS Excel and Word. Software knowledge will be considered a plus. Knowledgeable with regards to club financial issues of funding, cash flow, project analysis and experience with operation of a tax exempt 501(c) 7 social club. Professional image including ability to work with Club committees, board of directors and members. Must possess above average skills in the following areas: critical thinking, decision-making, complex problem solving, systems evaluation and analysis, oral and written communication, financial resource management and support of and work well with the Management Team.
