Add functionality to jMirc (java) to run on blackberry 9000 bold

jMirc is a java program for mobiles, that lets you connect IRC servers/chats. it is in java, and i want to run it on a blackberry bold 9000. it allready works but it is very simple, and it doesnt use the blackberry's api. i want jmirc notify with icon and sound alert, always a new message is received inside every irc channel that im connected with. Now it doesnt do anything when new message from other user appears on screen. will be possible to reuse the java code and implement the new notification functions ? My Blackberry is 9000 Bold, i want just to work on it. I will release jmirc extended with notifications as open source. Cause i want to know when a new message is writeen, but if i am seeing the new message the notification is useless (obvius, but i had to say it) If i am using jmirc, and i have it in my screen, i dont have to get notifications by sound or icon. just to clarify.
