I want to create a web service to publish for a [artner to read/write to our SQL Server 2000 database.
The XML web service will allow my partner to do the following from their website (PHP or ASP):
1. Create a new CONTACT
2. Query the DB to get the newly created customerID
3. Create a CONTACT
4. Create a REFERRAL
You will access a total of 3 tables.
This web service must be properly secured so I can hand out a password or key to enable use from the outside.
## Deliverables
See the attached spreadsheet for the field layout of 4 tables. The yellow signifies fields the consumer will send to the web service. The red is the data the service will return after inserting a row.
There are 2 options.
Option 1 is to create a LEAD.
Option 2 is to create a LEAD and a REFERRAL.
1. ? The customer fills out an online form to request more information about our product. Alternatively they can fill out a form to refer someone to us.
2. We collect the lead information and create 3 new records. First create a CUSTOMER in tblCustomers. The web service creates the customer and then returns the new CUSTOMERID.
3. Then create an address using that customerID and the service returns the new ADDRESSID.
4. Then create a contact in tblContacts and the system returns the CONTACTID.
5. If Option 2 is selected, create a referral in tblReferrals wtih all the submitted information and link it to the CONTACTID you just created.
We are using SQL Server 2000. I have attached a database with only these tables in it for testing.
