Cake PHP MVC - Custom Jobboard extention Background: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The system publishes jobs online – each job is tagged with a SKILL: It publices all the jobs to websiteX We made a script that also displays Jobs with skillY at websiteY, it uses the same title and discriptions fields and required and nice-to-have fields. Lets call these 4 field the DISCRIPTIONDATA Request: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For each SKILL, if it is used in other website, lets call it –SHADOW SITES-. We want to ADD a SKILL specific set of DISCRIPTIONDATA. And display the SKILL specifiek DISCRIPTIONDATA in the SHADOW SITE. Where do we put it: Below the existing job-form If SKILL is associated with a SHADOW SITE then do for each SHADOW SITE: (has many) DISCRIPTIONDATA for SITE Z [ dicription here ] [ title here ] [ required ] [ nice to have ] [submit} How we want it technical to be done: --------------------------------------------------------------- We want to make 4 additional field to the database to be added in the JOB table. We want to use a PHP setting file in which we define the Shadow sites and associated skills. No interface for this file is needed. SETTINGSFILE looks like: SiteY = [login to view URL] Siteydisplayname = website y Datalabelname = websiteY AssiociatedSkills = “121,124,180” SiteZ = [login to view URL] Siteydisplayname = website Z Datalabelname = websiteZ AssiociatedSkills = “180” In a job with Skill 180 we have 2 skill related DISCRIPTIONDATA sets. We write these into the same new fields using a markup tag like: Here the description for this job for website y Here the description for this job for website Z So we can later on add more shadow websites, without adding field to the database. Required, on the SHADOWSITES Editing the script so it will filter out the appropriate DISCRIPTIONDATA for that particular website. It will only display a JOB when the skill specific DISCRIPTIONDATA is filled The script has access to the database and is installed localy on each shadow website. LOOKUP LIST ShadowSites – DISCRIPTIONDATA already filled? We also require a lookup by each Shadowsite (dropdown) showing a list of all the associated skills – and per SKILL the assiociated JOBS and if the specific DISCRIPTIONDATA is already filled or not. With a link to the JOB editing form. DEVELOPMENT ENVIRONMENT ---------------------------------------------------------------- We have setup a professional cloudbased development environment with test an acceptation environments, with according testdatbases. using tools like SVN and Mantis for version control and issseu tracking. A WIKI that describes what steps to take for the developers, when you change and upload new code. We have these small php projects on a regular bases and want to build up a pool of available Developers who are familiar with our environment . The system is written using the CakePHP Framework, PHP 5, mySQL using MVC.
