Require a plugin for "Skype for Business/Lync client" to use a sip soft-phone "like Zoiper as an example" registered with asterisk to make and receive calls. We already have the infrastructure setup with asterisk extensions etc to make VoIP calls. Our goal is to use Lync for IM/presence and make use of the sip softphone for VoIP calls. So basically the end user should not be aware of the soft-phone making calls via asterisk. The user doesn't have to jump between the soft-phone and lync to chat and to make calls. All communications should originate from the lync client. A sip trunk between Lync and asterisk isnt possible because we are talking about Lync online/o365. In the end the user should think its the lync client making the call. There is already a company called Simplync doing this but we are looking to use our own brand and software.
