Dear Person in Morocco,
The problem described is familiar; how easy it is to miss the message or read between the lines of written communication, particularly in its shorter forms. The tone of writing is just as important as one’s tone of speech.
Understanding the subtleties of language goes a long way in ensuring that the intended meaning, the ‘atmosphere,’ of your words is effectively conveyed.
I previously worked in the oil industry (20+ yrs), as a geologist and technical assistant, writing my own technical reports and re-writing/editing those written by others. I also worked as a technical sales engineer, writing technical proposals, accompanying cover letters and emails to clients.
I now concentrate on writing, and have also completed a Counselling Skills course, psychology and the nature of communication being key components. This helped me further understand the importance of effective communication.
As yet, I’ve had no success bidding and have no rating. However, I am experienced, serious minded, have many skills, and a lot of time. I am sure I can help you carve out the perfect word choice. Further discussion on the nature of your business, demographic of stakeholders, and your company ethos and image, will help pitch the tone of the email perfectly.
I hope you will feel able to ‘take a chance on me’ and help me progress as a freelance writer.
Kindest regards,
Roberta (Robbie) Keir
