An overview of the Exam: • This exam is cumulative, which means that it covers all course material. • Use course material exclusively: focus on using the readings and course lectures. At a secondary level, you can use handouts, videos and other materials posted on the course website. Do not use any outside materials in answering questions. • Support your answers with examples from the course materials. Do your best to stay within the provided word ranges. • The final is divided into two parts. • Part 1 focuses on reading comprehension and is worth 25% of the final. There is 1 question in Part 1. The question has sub-questions; be sure to address every sub-question. Write your answers in complete sentences; do not use bullet points, abbreviations, tables, etc…Do your best to stick to the word range for each question. The word range refers to the total you should use for your answer (which includes answers to all sub-questions). • Part 2 asks you to answer to essay-based questions. Part 2 is worth 75% of the Final Exam. Each essay-based question is worth 25%. You will see that are four questions in Part 2; choose only 3 of these questions to answer. Provide structured answers and write in complete sentences; do not use bullet points, abbreviations, tables, etc…Do your best to stick to the word range for each question. • Clearly indicate which questions you have chosen to answer in Part 2 on your exam copy. • Important: For Part 2, do not use direct quotations, in-text citation, and do not copy from course material. The only exception to this rule is if you are using a definition from the course slides that you think is necessary for your answer. In that case be sure to include quotations around the definition and be sure to explain why that definition is relevant to your answer. Convey the arguments and evidence from course material in your own words. If you need to clearly differentiate what you are saying from what one of the authors states or argues. Part 1 (25% total) 1.
