Subject: Generic micro-controller firmware for a force feedback (FFB) steering input device. Our goal is to recreate a standard force feedback device that works with driving simulators such as iRacing, Live for Speed, rFactor, etc. We would like to do so by using the USB standard called PID (Physical Interface Device). [login to view URL] If our controller responds to the aforementioned simulators (initially) with a minimum of generic FFB motor control signals (square / sawtooth / etc) to emulate road surface / direction changes we would consider that a great first step. Basic Requirements: We need a microcontroller firmware (created in MPLAB X IDE) for the PIC24FJ128GC010 (or PIC32 family) that: 1. Enumerates as a generic USB HID gamepad 2. Also enumerates with a USB Out pipe for FFB data 3. Receives and processes FFB data over that pipe used by Microsoft DirectInput 4. Uses that data to drive a brushless DC motor on the Rz axis. 5. Operating System - Primary: Win7 64bit, Secondary: Consoles (PS4/XB1)

Hello. I made such an interface (FFB) and it worked on Windows 7 64bit, implemented on the AVR. I felt and saw command-protocol operation FFB. I can do on the AVR, or porting most of the source code in the PIC, or other controller (eg STM32). All work - I check and debug, for functionality.
