Analysing a Database with Excel

TASK AIM: I want to analyse my Racehorse Database, with the aim of finding Patterns or Trends within the Database The main thing I do now is, select Various Columns in the ‘’Past Results’’ Excel sheet / and Filter them using the ‘’Auto Filter’’ option / and then check how many horses have Won Or Lost when looking at Column Y of the Database. (The winners in Column Y are denoted with the Number 1 / and the Losers are indicated by >=2 ) But I feel that this is a long and tedious way of doing the analysis, because of the size of the Database. I want to be able to select any Column from the ‘’Past Results’’ then Filter them using the Ranges as displayed on the ‘’Ranges’’ sheet / I am hoping this may make the filter analysis easier. But I am open to ideas, if there is a better way to do the proper analysis. DATA AVAILABLE a) Database on Excel of approx. 100,000 Results / This is named ‘’Past Results’’ b) An Excel Sheet showing Ranges for each Column of Data in the Database This is named the ‘’Ranges’’ sheet c) The ‘’Main Analysis’’ sheet, this is a sheet that I have designed to fill in with the output of the Filter Analysis This sheet can be changed if necessary, to suit your method of Analysis METHOD a) Insert small icons like the Auto Filters Option in Row 3 of the ‘’Past Results’’ sheet. The small icons can be placed in Row 4 / In case I need to also use the Standard Auto Filter Options which are already in Row 3. This will enable me to select the columns that I want to include in a particular Analysis. b) When I click on the new small icons in Row 4, I would like a pop-up icon to appear with the list of Ranges applicable to that Column as shown in the ‘’Ranges’’ sheet / and be able to select which Ranges to include into the Filter Analysis c) I would then like to be able to click on a Macro Button in Cell Q1 in the ‘’Master Analysis’’ Sheet / which will Filter the ‘’Past Results’’ sheet using all of the Selected Columns and their Ranges. Do you have any other ideas on/ How I can find the Most Number of Winners as per Column Y of the ‘’Past Results’’ Sheet / For the Least Number of Runners. If we can work this out, we can then do the opposite, and find the Least Number of Winners for the Most Number of Runners.
