Audition for Interviewers
$5-10 CAD / hour
Note: Please do not apply unless you meet ALL the following criteria:
- [ ] Over age 30
- [ ] Are or were married or cohabiting in an intimate relationship for at least 5 years
- [ ] Over 10 years living in the US, Canada, or similar western culture
- [ ] Journalist, teacher, or other demonstrated skill with learning and imparting concepts and ideas
- [ ] Completely fluent in spoken English
- [ ] NO work experience or education in psychology or related fields
- [ ] Available for the larger project of 10-20 three-hour sessions (at our mutual convenience) over the next month or two, during evenings in North America.
- [ ] Have a computer with headset or earbuds, a reliable internet connection, and a quiet private room
- [ ] Specify your desired hourly rate, which will also be a factor in my choice
- [ ] Excellent at following specific instructions (For example, you must give details of your suitability in your initial application for this task. I will reject any incomplete applications or contacts.)
This project is one short paid audition to see who I will hire for a larger contract, up to 50 hours of the same sort of work.
If hired for this audition project, you will be paid to attend a video meeting of up to two hours with me, during an evening (Vancouver time). During that, I explain a few topics in psychology for intimate relationships. I will be looking for your curiosity, interest, and engagement with me. Those who excel in this audition to be hired for the larger project will show that they:
- listen carefully,
- encourage me to go deeper or explain more,
- ask intelligent and revealing questions,
- ask for more clarity,
- talk about any confusion or doubts,
- connect the ideas together,
- offer analogies or examples or illustrations or exercises,
- etc.
This is similar to the work a reporter or writer or researcher would do, minus any actual writing or reporting. Effectively, you will be paid to be a great student, very enthusiastic and engaged, and you will benefit from learning a lot about the psychology of intimate relationships. You will even get some free advice, coaching, or counselling. There will be no need for you to take notes, and you will not be tested on the subject matter, but you should have a great memory and ability to absorb ideas and concepts.
