It's rare to see such details from beginning. I don't see a problem to implement requested functionality. Despite it's possible to complete the project without the hardware, it's very helpful to have such exemplar in office to work efficiently. Must repeat - generally, it's possible to complete the stage even without with deep communication. I saw iPhone in tags, but I suggest to start from Android prototype and later to implement iPhone specific with known and tested protocol. Please, let me your vision regarding expected stages and we define milestones to get results rapidly.
