Hi, I am a Symfony developer and have more than 4yrs of experience in symfony . Worked in symfony 1.4, 3.4 & 4.4 projects. Regarding the project, YOU CAN'T UPGRADE FROM SYMFONY 1.4 to SYMFONY 5, YOUR BEST BET IS SYMFONY 3.4. Even though you can upgrade it to 3.4 using wrapper and you may still need to have 1.4 application as a fallback and it has known issues like session management. I guess If you consider moving higher version of symfony & php which gives massive performance boost, then you have to re - develop the application from scratch, No other ways possible. Symfony 4.4 is latest LTS (Long term support) version & it supported upto 2022. I can help you out in redevelopment with minimal cost of $10 per hour. Expecting positive reply. Thanks.
