Embedded System Design

We are looking for an embedded system designer with good skills in PCB layout to develop a full-spectrum 20W to 30W E27 LED light bulb for plant growing. This bulb needs a CCD or CMOS image sensor with wide-angle lens at the centre and circuitry inside the bulb to allow it to detect motion (PIR) and start/stop capturing videos, which are then either saved on a MicroSD card or streamed with G.265 (upgradeable to G.266 in Q4) to an NVR or to cloud storage. The system should dim and switch off grow lights automatically at dusk and gradually switch them on again at dawn. Basically, what we are looking for is a smart grow light -- a combination of a full-spectrum plant grow bulb, a covert wide-angle IP camera, and a video streaming/storage system. You will find similar LED lights from a number of vendors, but none is a plant grow light, and none dims on and off at dusk and dawn. Our aim is to make this novel grow light bulb the first element of a standards-based IoT system for indoor/outdoor gardening and intruder detection that will in the future be extended to automated irrigation with moisture analysis, pH and EC sensors for nutrient reservoirs and big data analytics. Our target customers are the millions of businesses and homes that need ongoing plant care automation. Apart from its main purpose of intruder detection and video recording, the image sensor (whether CCD or CMOS is to be decided) should also log plant wilting and alert the owner or system admin. Last but not least, please note that this has to be low-cost, yet upgradeable embedded system. Make it too expensive and no one will buy it. *** ADDENDUM *** We propose the project to be divided into seven phases, whereby the outputs of each phase will have to be diligently documented. 1.
