There is a *server based* web accelerator service [login to view URL] that uses a server to "fetch" pages and then compress them to the user browser to speed up slow internet connections. My problem is that my ISP gives me only 6-7 kb speed when browsing - but about 20-25 kb/s when downloading with multiple threads. What I want to achieve is to get higher speed when browsing by installing software on a server (on a fast internet connection) that fetches the sites I wish to browse and then sends me the data (compressed) in multiple threads to my browser (firefox, if possible). What I want is a software that can be installed on apache server and then it A) server fetches the website I want to browse B) compresses the data with gzip C) and enables the end-user to get the data in multiple threads (just like with download accelerators). The end-users installed software could be a firefox extension or a separate program. Question 1: I do not know if it is possible at all with "C" to browse website (where browse data is downloaded with multiple threads (when data comes from a server who has fetched the info first) so please advise me if that is possible or not. Question 2: if it is not possible to make multiple threads that equally download data (preferred method) - would it then be possible to make each thread carry its own kind of data (1 thread for text from website, another thread with images from website etc). Please advise. Tell a little about what experience you have with this and also if you can provide a demo I can test for 1 hour or so.
