We need an embedded solution to create a custom long-term timelapse controller. Freelancer to create programs, include necessary libraries and provide assistant to create this controller. We have clear system outline and general how-it-works with lacking resources to the details, namely embedded linux programming. We have done some research in the DIY community and able to provide some reference and guidance to the project. Some of the features we need from this software are: - connect raspbery pi with camera via libgphoto2 - control camera settings (shutter, iso, etc) and trigger the camera - read JPG from camera every x seconds - compare with SDcard content, copy to SDcard as necessary - upload the file to server over WiFi or GSM/3G/4G - double check the upload and retry if necessary - camera can also be controlled over the internet (command line is okay) - timelapse interval and other settings can be changed over the internet - the whole system need to be able to run for more than 6 months. This stage 2 is not included in this budget –future project for if you finish the Stage 1. - Bulb ramping via imagemagick analysis - server side graphical user interface (HTML based) - view uploaded photos and adjust camera setting - download all picture (or selected) as zip - show metadata - show histogram

Hello, I'm an experienced Python developer and Linux user. I have built many projects on the Pi including communicating with a DSLR camera through gphoto2. I've done the reading and uploading photos from the camera part for a previous project. In order to change the settings via Internet and connect to the Pi remotely it either needs to have a public IP address or be part of a VPN. Would a Python solution be OK for you? You also mentioned Wifi in the description but there is none in the system photo. Best wishes, iticus

Hi, I am Jawad and I represent a team of professional engineers with combined experience of 15+ years of safety-critical embedded solution development. I believe I have assessed the project specs in detail and I understand your requirements. Outlined here is our road map to execute your project as per your description order: 1. RPi <-> Cam interfacing via USB and gphoto2 (I just checked that RPi and BeagleBone come packed with libgphoto2) 2. The basic DSLR settings (shutter, ISO, AV etc) and trigger would be handled by Gphoto2 commands which in turn could be accommodated in Bash/Perl/Python script or C++ app. 3. Reading JPEGs periodically and content comparison on SDCards would be both be done by above script/app using gphoto2 and Linux API. 4. Uploading to the server over Wifi/GSM could be done with MQTT (recommended) which also provides the provision to not only uploading to server but also real time sharing with other particular users. 5. Ack/Nack based reliable uploading (included in MQTT already) 6. Many options exist for online control of Cam but MQTT is recommended again. 7. 6 months? Kids stuff ;) It is a normal timeline for self-sustaining systems. Also plz remember that RPi is not commercial/industrial grade SBC so we might have to opt for another one if your controller is commercial. I have just outlined your requirements with our feedback and left many recommendations due to shortage of space. Please contact for details. We are new here and raring to go!
