I am looking for an experienced editor to provide a comprehensive content and structural edit on my manuscript which falls within the range of 50,000 to 100,000 words. I am a sixty-seven-year-old man with five published novels but this is different, it is a memoir, working title: Out Of Step. The story is the product of some recent revelations that shed an entirely new light on my adult life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Examine the manuscript’s structure and content for coherence, overall narrative flow, and logical order of arguments or events.
- Suggest alterations to improve the manuscript, whilst maintaining and enhancing the narrative and descriptive writing style.
Ideal Candidate:
- Excellent knowledge of narrative and descriptive writing.
- Proven experience in manuscript editing, particularly memoirs.
- High attention to detail and understanding of structural editing.
- Ability to maintain the author's voice while improving readability and flow.
- You have probably read Angela's Ashes, Running With Scissors, The Liars' Club or similar.
- If you have read Finton O'Toole's We Don't Know Ourselves or are otherwise familiar with Irish society in general that would help.
This role requires a fine balance between creativity and technical skill, and I'm excited to work with someone who can bring my memoir to life. Various family and friends have read this draft with wide-ranging opinions of it from overall enjoyment to deep frustration. Now it needs dispassionate professional criticism to move it further.
In the interest of everyone's time I am attaching the manuscript. My name is Sean Kenny and I am the author of these novels:
The Hungry Earth
Fast-Wing
Celtic Fury
The Memory Trap
The Ulstermen
All of these books and their provenance are part of the memoir.
I look forward to some proposals!
Sean Kenny
