Hi, I'm not a bot.. Viktor there are few ways of how to do this, but it will depend on what's the actual context, is your raspberry initiated and displaying the desktop? Then we can run the VLC player and play the video, or we can even play a full screen frame with the video too using an embedded video player. Hi, Due to non-realtime nature of the task, I would do it using OS (Linux) GPIO interface + shell script. This way is cheapest & fastest (comparing to low-level C code) and also the result can be easily adopted for further requirements. I did the similar tasks for my RPi projects and also ready to made it in C, but the price is for shell variant (which I recommend). Regards.

I have a program that sounds similar to what you need. It runs on Raspberry using headless Dietpi and video plays using ffmpeg. There are some limitations but works for me.
