I have a Python script that scrapes pages for information which is stored in a .json file, ten downloads specific files, in total there are about 7,000 file. It uses Selenium, requests and chromedriver. What is happening is that often it is getting locked in the file downloader. I have to then break the program and re-start incrementing the file counter appropriately. This is taking too much manual time. What I would like to do is add a timeout to the download, perhaps start a monitor thread that shuts down the download after 20 seconds and then then hopefully recover by re-trying the download.
