State of the art evaluation of online education platforms

Wanted: People who have invested serious time in at least 2 of 3 of the following online education platforms: 1) EdX 2) Coursera 3) Udacity Deliverable: A report that evaluates in detail the current capabilities, advantages, technological achievements and differences between the prominent online education platforms, with a focus on: 1) EdX 2) Coursera 3) Udacity 4) Minerva Schools and how these courses are upending the traditional educational establishment. Your audience are older (40+), actively engaged university executives and deans who are either unaware, vaguely aware, or otherwise recalcitrant to these platforms. The goal is not to be an evangelist of these platforms, but simply to provide an in-depth survey of the state of the art. You may consider touching upon other sites like Khan Academy, [login to view URL] or [login to view URL], but the primary purpose is the evaluation of the 4 listed above. In specific, but by no means is this an exhaustive list, this report should highlight: 1) The breadth and depth of available courses and topics 2) The technology used to deliver and disseminate the knowledge contained in those courses 3) The level of interaction students have with either one another, or their professors (or equivalents). Furthermore, if this interaction exists at all, what is the technology that facilitates this interaction like? 4) What new and interesting ideas have been added to the concept of education? Simply being online is not a large innovation. Has an accepted academic style or methodology on its head? Have any completely new ways to think about education been invented? There is no pre-determined format that this report should take. Feel free to have fun and be creative with it, but remember your audience, and remember the goal. It should not be longer than a long-form essay of the type one would encounter in the New York Times.
