Adil Hussain inaugurated Green Hub, a video documentation centre PRANAB KUMAR DAS Words Count: 588 Tezpur,May.3: A video documentation centre “ Green Hub”, established to engage and empower youth and community in the conservation of biodiversity, was inaugurated by noted actor and faculty of NSD , Adil Hussain, at Jonak, the historic building of Hridaya Agarwala, founder of first cinema hall “Jonaki” here . Inaugurating the documentation center the noted cine actor with international repute Hussain emphasized the importance of the centre and expected that through the centre a message of importance of the conservation of nature could be brought till to the last corner of the society. He also urged in his speech to the common society to be sensitive in saving the wild life without which existence of the human being can never be possible. On the occasion briefing to the media, Adil Hussain added that social degradation has become a global phenomenon at the present day scenario but it is more intense in Assam . Highlighting the reasons behind it he said that this is only because of large scale betrayal of a section of leaders who came to power after the six years long Assam Agitation. “It has affected the overall social scenario of the region being a great tragedy of the Assamese people” he said and continued that the dream of the people was totally collapsed as the leaders of that period failed to deliver the promises that they made resulting in loss of faith among the people. Relying to query present state of the film industry, particularly the Assamese film industry he expressed his total dissatisfaction over the agencies concern for their allege failure to make concrete policies for boosting up Assamese film industry. He was of the opinion that government could do a lot including establishment of more cinema halls and proper taxation policy. Saying without going deep into the subject matter of a film or cultural item he also lauded that Jyoti Prasad Agarwala had deep love and intense affinity towards society and film making which was focused in Joymati, Karengar ligiri etc. “ I feel that it is matter of regret due to the lack of real love towards a particular subject the present generation does not come forward to deal with issues related with bio diversity and ecosystem”. At the same time highlighting the objectives of the Green Hub centre Dr. Monika Behl stated that twenty trainees from across the north east region were selected and would be provided free of cost one year course on video documentation on conservation of wild life. She further added that Tezpur has been selected for Green hub as it is situated within the 100 km radius of six national park and wild life sanctuaries including Pakey, Nameri, Orang, Sonai Rupia, Burha Chapari, and Kaziranga. “To engage and empower the youth and community in the conservation of biodiversity. Using innovative medium of film and visual to engage, renew and revive love and respect for natural resources and the protection of the environment”. Rita Benerjee another office bearer of the environmental programme, informed that beginning in the current year the fellowships will be given to 20 young people who will be trained and their skills developed in filmmaking specifically, with sessions by experts that will include – wildlife biology, anthropology, social development, government policy, environment issues etc. It is pertinent to mention here that a documentary on conservation of Amur Falcon in Doyang River in Nagaland was also screened.
