Full-time Data Administrator for US CPA Firm -- 2

POSITION: Full-time Data Administrator ( Minimum of 40 hours/week ) About the company Tax Goddess is a solid, growing, and lively/fun Scottsdale CPA firm. We are a progressive, computer savvy CPA Firm, so you must have computer skills. Knowledge of working in the "cloud" is a plus as our firm is 100% digital. We are seeking to hire a technically skilled database administrator that is capable of holding positions of great responsibility. In this role, you'll be the first respondent to database problems that arise and carry out periodic maintenance and troubleshooting. A Database Administrator is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and security measures of our firm’s databases. Main duties include monitoring and updating malware protection software to combat potential security breaches, creating account data for authorized individuals to access databases, and organizing databases so individuals can find important documents in an efficient manner. Maintaining adherence to a data management policy and ensuring that company databases are functional and backed up in the event of memory loss. Data Administrator duties and responsibilities: Ensure proper data handling by all staff Ensure that all data is backed up according to schedule Lead data recovery efforts together with the tech team whenever we lose data Extracting and/or loading data Setting up cybersecurity measures Ensuring all hardware and software are updated Authenticating data Monitoring the performance of hardware and software Configuring servers and databases Preserving data integrity Ethically handling private data, including financial data Monitoring system performance and identifying problems that arise. Responding in a timely manner to user-reported errors. Protecting the database against threats or unauthorized access. Ensuring that the database is adequately backed up and able to be recovered in the event of memory loss. Reporting on metrics regarding usage and performance. Suggesting changes and improvements for database maintenance or protection. Regularly liaising with IT project managers and database programmers. Designing databases with both front-end and back-end users in mind Help tech department when needed Training new staff on data handling Training current staff on data handling Enforce data backup policy across the firm Database Administrator Requirements: A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field. ( Huge plus ) A minimum of 3 years' experience as a database administrator. Proficiency in data manipulation languages, including MS SQL, Oracle Database, Hadoop, or PostgreSQL. Analytical mindset and good problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Highly organized and responsible. Capable of working under pressure. Up-to-date with trends and developments in database administration. Experience working with remote/virtual employees(A huge plus ) Working hours: Our US business hours overlap ( 8:00 am to 12:00 noon Arizona time, the rest of the hours can be flexible ) Hours for some departments may vary depending on the tasks involved. Working additional hours and some weekends during tax season will be required You are required to be online & very active while you are on the clock.
