I need a circuit that monitors a thermostat. The thermostat is a 24vac line. The input will go into the ADC of a digital IO pin of an arduino. The circuit should use a consume a tiny amount of power off of the 24vac line, just enough to monitor it. A the output will need to be probably high impedance and interface with whatever the digital IO pin of an arduino needs, current sync or current source. The output will need to b 0volts or 5volts and have conditioning so it's a nice clean signal. Thanks

Hi, I can help you. What i understand, you want to Read 24V AC line via ADC of arduino using signal conditioning. I can provide simulations, circuit diagrams and arduino sketch for the desired output. Please feel free to contact. Best Regards, Shahbaz.

Its an easy job and my bid includes schematic design as well as the PCB design so that you could build the add on circuit in a small modular board to connect with your arduino. Can you please provide the sensor details. Easy enough. Thank you very much and am looking forward to hear from you. Best Regards... Roy

Hi, I have a long experience in hardware and sofwtare product design and I am bidding this project based on that. I wish to know a few more details about the project for a better undestanding.. 1. Is the thermostat acting as a current source? As you know usually a current source usually has a high impedance specification but by using proper signal conditioning circuits it allows us to convert into proper measurable voltages. If you can share details about the thermostat it will be great 2. If it is a voltage source, is the worry about signal being attenuated (that you need high impedance for)? 3. Is the requirement for a schematics for the signal conditioning circuit? Thanks Vinod

Hi My understanding is that the thermostat prsents either 24ac or 0Vac depending on whether it is on or off and that the circut will transform this into a digital lsignal compatible with the arduino inputs. Protection and conditioning to be included. Powered form the 24ac line. I can design a small circuit that will satisfy these requirements. Kind regards Marc

I obtain my Bsc degree in Electronic engineering and we have started new company with 4 professional engineers who are expert in Electronics and software such as embedded system designing, matlab, java , C+ , PCB layout .etc . we are currently doing UAV autopilot research, pulse oximeter based Bio medical research collaborate with Fluke company ,Arduino demo board manufacturing etc . also done several project with micro processors and one of industrial project was re designing PUMA 562 robot arm controller design with DSPICs, and Matlab, So we have sound experience with microprocessors and circuit design which can use to assist your project also. In your design we can use OPAMP buffer circuit to lower sink current and also we can use attenuator or a voltage divider to map 24V AC to 5V then we can remove one negative wave part from the signal and then get the maximum peak voltage. further detail u can discuss with me . thank you Chamika Gamage Electronic engineer

Hi, This looks very simple and I can turn it around pretty quickly, I have 30 plus years working as an electronic engineer for major electronic companies and play with the arduino quite a bit. I also have a very good idea what is required to keep the thing immune to interference from rf and electrical noise. Regards Steve
