Hello! Thanks for your personal invitation! Your problem is interesting, but may be complex too. It depends on degree of simplification of real phenomena. I solved similar problems, which arise during wind turbine optimization by CFD programs. This problem close to my interests, because my specialization - gas turbines, in particular, CAD/CAE development of compressor and turbine blades, numerical and experimental investigations of the flow in it's passages. I conducted such analysis in ANSYS, Salome-Meca, simulated steady flows in FLOTRAN and unsteady flows with Gerris, solved PDE systems in Mathematica Wolfram and developed scripts in MATLAB.
